My name is Lauren Esposito, and I am the manager at the OhioHealth Neuroscience Wellness Center as well as the manager of group fitness and Pilates at the OhioHealth McConnell Heart Health Center. What I love most about my role is the ability to create an inclusive fitness environment. My background in Physical Therapy lead me into the wellness industry when I noticed a gap in services for clients with neurological conditions and a lack of inclusive fitness offerings in the community. I developed a wellness program for clients living with Multiple Sclerosis; a few years after developing the program, I had the opportunity to be involved in the planning for OhioHealth to build the Neuroscience Wellness Center! My passion for making sure that individuals can access fitness and wellness services that feel inclusive and supportive of every ones differing abilities has helped to drive me to where I am now.
My advice for women in this industry is to stay rooted in your initial passion. Feeling a strong sense of responsibility to provide a safe and inclusive environment for my members pushes me through some of the more difficult times. Whenever I feel discouraged, I try and make sure I am spending more time interacting with the members, and hearing their stories always centers me in my mission. I also have had the opportunity to work with amazing female mentors in the industry as well who help champion me and support me along the way!
